Things Are Looking Up....Hopefully?

Yesterday was not one of my better days. I let the stress of something that MIGHT happen overwhelm what WAS happening. The warm, beautiful weather, and the fact that my husband was up early, went ignored as I fretted. Today will not be like that. Today will be as awesome as the days before yesterday were. I'm going to "make stuff" and tonight at work I'm going to finish reading the awesomeness that is "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". I'm going to eat something delicious for dinner and sleep is going to be blissful instead of feeling like a life-saving chore. There will be no feelings of guilt over the money I just spent on NEW books from a CHAIN bookstore, and I will not dwell on the stuff that needs to be done around the house. Today, I will do what I want, when I want to do it, and I will enjoy it.

Trying to Tamp Down The Crazy

Why do people act before they think about what they're doing? Every action has a reaction, and we all need to keep that in mind. Slow down, think about what you're doing, saying, and writing. That's what I'm doing right now. I've written and rewritten this blog at least 4 times now. It's quite possibly the vaguest blog I've ever written, but I don't want to hurt any of the people involved. Okay, I feel slightly vented now. Kind of like opening the sprinkle side on the garlic salt container rather than the pour spout.

Today I bought some NEW art supplies. I'm excited to put them to good use. Christmas is coming up, and I'd really like to do a mostly homemade holiday this year. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull it off, but so far I'm kind of on a roll. We'll see what happens as the days march on.

In other news, my tomatoes are FINALLY starting to turn red and I'm thinking about getting a Beta Fish.

My Day

This is what my day looks like today.

This Weekend's Endeavors

This canvas got it's start at least a year ago. I wasn't sure how I wanted to continue with it and set it aside. This weekend I finished it. The picture doesn't do it much justice.

While I was waiting for the paint to dry on a new batch of projects, I finished this little creation. The base is packing material that my mom & sister saved for me this spring. When I got it I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. The cardboard is painted a buttery gold yellow color. The flowers were something I bought at the Salvation Army ages ago. I'm not big into fake flowers, but this just seemed right. Then I braided some rafia for a border and finished it with a heart straight pin, both yard sale or Salvation Army finds. Not bad for a quick upcycle project. Again, bad picture. My camera is broken, so I have to settle for my phone. It's a decent camera, but there's only so much it can do.

Pretty Damn Proud Right Now

Today has been a fantastic day. The first part of the day I spent creating. While I waited for paint to dry or glue to set, I hung out with my husband and our roommate. They've been working on clearing our creek bank of weeds and small trees so our edible landscape has more room to flourish. Then we strapped the canoe on the top of the car and headed up to the reservoir for some paddling & fishing. Now we're about to eat some delicious alfredo/chicken/vegetable concoction. I'm hoping to create more after dinner, but I have my doubts. The sleepies are creeping in even as we speak.

Finally Creating Again!

Yesterday the urge to create something FINALLY hit me again. It has been way too long since I've wanted to do anything other than bake or garden. Those are means of creating too, but I'm talking about paint, tools, paper, etc. The kind of creating that involves some sort of personal catharsis. It took awhile to actually clean up my work space, but I did it. Tonight I finished a canvas that I started last year some time. I'll post pictures soon, but right now I'm off to do more creating. Who knows, maybe I'll even blog more about what I've accomplished!
